Food Additive Encyclopaedia
This program is currently under development. When completed it will contain a page for each food additive used in Australia and New Zealand that will provide information on additive number, synonyms, uses, recommended allowances, known and potential hazards, foods in which the additive is allowed and a summary of toxicology. A following detailed section will contain a comprehensive survey (including literature references) of the biochemical and toxicological properties of the additive.
Separate sections will include essays on a variety of topics associated with food additive use, such as methods of testing, clinical trials, allergic reactions, legislation etc.
The program will be indexed on name (including synonyms), number and additive type, and additional sections reflecting current Australian food usage for individual additives, printable shopping guides, and contact details for organisations dealing with allergy and additive adverse reactions will be included.
Although aimed primarily at an Australian and New Zealand audience, the program will also be appropriate for Europeans, as food additive usage and numbering systems are similar, and the basic information will be of use to consumers world-wide.
Comments and suggestions are welcome. More details on proposed release date will be included on this site in the future, and interested parties can contact the author to be included on a mailing list for notification at .
